Pre-requisite: Red Dot Intermediate or defensive pistol equivalent. You must be able to shoot a 1″ square from 5 yards with 70% accuracy or better. \nBring firearm\, IWB or OWB holster\, 400 rounds of ammunition\, eye and hearing protection and snacks/beverage. Do to the pace of this class\, it is recommended to bring as many pre-loaded magazines as you have.

Each clinic will have at least 2 certified Shotgun Instructors to help you learn the game. Don’t have a shotgun? Not to worry\, we have several loaners available in 12 and 20 gauge. Let us know that you need a loaner. \nClinic #1: Trap\, September 28\, 2-5pm. You will learn how the game of trap works. We will also assist you in all the basics of your shotgun and how to learn to see the bird\, get to it and press the trigger at the right time. \nClinic #2: Skeet\, October 5\, 9-noon. Come learn about skeet. Skeet is a little more challenging with more positions around the field and challenging angles.  What you learn in the trap clinic will help you a lot in this one! \nClinic #3:5-stand\, October 12\, 9-noon. 5-stand is part of the sporting clay universe without the need for all that walking or driving around. The throwers are in an array all around you. This game builds on what you learn in trap and skeet. \nClinic #4: Sporting Clays\, October 19\, 11am-2pm. Going from station to station hitting different pairs and then moving on is what this game is about. There is also a fantastic social component with this game. It’s also called “golf with a shotgun”. Some of the pairs are challenging but that’s part of the fun. \nClinic #5: Country Doubles\, November 2\, 9-noon. Come learn this Texas game! This is a part of our culture since this game is only played in Texas. It’s increasingly more difficult as you move further out into the field. You get a high bird and a low bird. DESCRIPTION:NRA Certified Basic Pistol Instructor Course: this 2-day course includes BIT (Basic Instructor Training)\, lesson plans\, practical exercises\, written exam and shooting qualification to become a certified NRA Instructor. Attendance in this class is an opportunity\, not a foregone conclusion. You must possess the knowledge\, skills and attitude to pass and become certified. You will receive feedback from your class peers as well as give feedback. There is some documentation that needs to be filled out and sent in promptly after registration. This documentation is on the site where you register. Print it out\, fill it out and email to the Training Counselor. This course takes place at a private range facility. Payment info and address will be given in an email following registration here. All training materials are provided. Please bring your student Pistol Handbook to class as we will be using it. Please dress in range attire. \nThere is a prerequisite to this course of taking the student level Basic Pistol class. We have listed it just prior to this one as a convenience. If you’ve already taken this class\, you must provide proof in the form of a signed completion certificate from an NRA Instructor. You will need your firearm in 9mm-.45acp\, 100 rounds of ammunition\, eye and hearing protection and any food and snacks you need to get through the day. DESCRIPTION:NRA Certified Rifle Instructor Course: This 2-day class includes NRA Basic Instructor Training (BIT) and the Instructor portion to have the opportunity to become a certified rifle instructor with the NRA. The prerequisite to take this instructor class is the Basics of Rifle Shooting student level class (just prior to this class). Proof of having taken this class is a certificate of completion from any certified NRA instructor. Please bring your student manual from this class as we will be using it. All instructor candidates must fill out a pre-course qualification/questionnaire and email it promptly back to the Training Counselor. All Instructor level materials will be provided. \nThere is a written test and a shooting qualification which must be passed at a 90% or greater to obtain certification. In addition\, you will be receiving and giving feedback to your class peers. Please come dressed as you would to go to the range. You will need to bring: your rifle in any caliber as you will be shooting as a “student” as well as shooting the instructor rifle qualification\, 150 rounds of ammunition\, a shooting mat\, eye and hearing protection\, closed toed shoes and long pants. You will be shooting from the bench\, prone and standing. Safe gun handling\, loading and unloading of each action type must also be demonstrated to pass this course. \nPlease bring a lunch both days as there aren’t any close by eateries. There is a fridge and a microwave. Water is provided.

You will learn the concept of balancing speed and precision to begin the course\, understanding your individual limits\, the importance of accurate hits to target\, and ability to quickly engage with a target. Other drills may include: – How to present from the holster – How to perform an emergency reload – Lateral movement – And more Purchasing a gun is part of the self-defense journey\, but knowing how to safely and effectively use it is even more important. Education and training are critical methods to ensure students will be ready if they’re forced to use their firearms to defend themselves and their loved ones. \nPre-requisite: Intro to Defensive Shooting or the equivalent \nCome build on the skills and concepts learned in the Intro to Defensive Shooting mini-class. This class will cover extra drills and topics pertaining to home defense. You will be presented with 2 scenarios and have to make decisions in the heat of the moment. DESCRIPTION:Get The Lead Out is the class you can’t find anywhere else! Have you ever considered that you could be knocked to the ground in the fight of your life? Have you ever fired from ground positions and experienced the difference in sight picture and recoil management? There are important considerations to do this safely.  This class will introduce the following ground positions and considerations for each: kneeling\, prone\, sideways\, and supine. You will learn about sight picture and recoil from all of these positions. You will be on the ground and get dirty in this class!!! Bring a shooting mat if you have one. Knee and elbow pads are strongly suggested. If you don’t have these items\, please contact instructor to reserve one. \nYou will also work on several other skills in this class.  Magazine changes under duress\, engaging multiple targets\, being aware of other people around you\, working through or around body issues or injuries\, using cover\, considerations while seated\, and for when out and about on regular errands\, plus some longer range pistol shooting.  Bring the following: your conceal carry pistol and holster\, at least 3 magazines\, 300 rounds of ammunition\, shooting mat if you have one\, eye and ear protection\, knee and elbow pads\, any snacks and beverages you need. This documentation is on the site where you register. Print it out\, fill it out and email to the Training Counselor. This course takes place at a private range facility. Payment info and address will be given in an email following registration here. All training materials are provided. Please bring your student Pistol Handbook to class as we will be using it. Please dress in range attire. \nThere is a prerequisite to this course of taking the student level Basic Pistol class. We have listed it just prior to this one as a convenience. If you’ve already taken this class\, you must provide proof in the form of a signed completion certificate from an NRA Instructor. You will need your firearm in 9mm-.45acp\, 100 rounds of ammunition\, eye and hearing protection and any food and snacks you need to get through the day. There is a fridge and microwave and water is provided.
