Fayette County Gun Club located in La Grange, Texas is 35 minutes from my home. This club has 4 pistol bays, one rifle bay that goes out to 300 yards, 1 skeet field that can also double as a trap field, a dedicated trap field and a sporting clays 5-stand set-up. They have a clubhouse as well as a nice outdoor restroom building. All shooting areas have cover behind the shooting line.
This club is run entirely by volunteers and are the NICEST people I’ve ever met. They have all helped me learn a lot more about the shotgun sports of skeet and trap. These people are tireless in their love and promotion of the shooting sports and the knowledge about reloading shot shells in this group is wide and deep. The members here have become some of my best friends and they are getting trained that I like to hug everyone!
The club hosts a steel challenge match every month, trap and skeet matches weekly, is home of 4-H shooting in Fayette County, holds charity events regularly and education classes. Classes are open to the public to learn more about firearms skills, safety, first-aid and other related topics. The range is open to the public on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The club has a respectable number of certified Range Safety Officers at 14 and counting. They have well defined procedures, are very safety conscious, and the membership is very reasonable too.
